Claremont Roar as East Fremantle Lack Bite

East Fremantle played host to Claremont on a fantastic sunny April afternoon at East Fremantle Oval, now called ATOM Stadium. It was essentially one way traffic all day as Claremont kept control of the pace and flow of the game by remaining accurate with their kicking. Claremont did not miss in front of goals by kicking 11 goals until their first point compared to a very wasteful East Fremantle.
In the second half the hosts started to make a comeback. However their wasteful kicking in front of goal would be their undoing. Claremont retained the ascendancy by remaining accurate to win the game 19.2-116 to East Fremantle's 11.11-77.

Food at East Fremantle is incredibly ordinary and a far cry to what it used to be like when I was last here and over days gone by. The canteen at the "Shark Bite" area is out-sourced by a catering company, so the money does not go to the club. A very ordinary hot-dog was 5 dollars and a cheeseburger was 7 dollars. The cheeseburger was actually very good and you get what you pay for from the menu there. But 5 dollars for a hot-dog with no sauce and the bun split in 2 where the sauce would just fall through is simply terrible.

I would suggest going into the members bar for cheaper drinks and food they provide. Cool drink was 3.50 for a can, that is just ridiculous for a local WAFL club ground especially when the money does not go to the club.

Sadly the ground has seen better days as the ground in all aspects is dilapidated, graffiti everywhere and just everything in a run down state. Hopefully things can turn around with East Fremantle moving with South Fremantle.

The Castro Show Featuring Perth Glory and the Broken Hearts

Went down to nib Stadium in East Perth to watch Perth Glory play host to Melbourne Heart... I mean City who were looking at solidifying a top position on the A-League table on what was a fantastic cool Sunday afternoon. The first 15 minutes Perth were absolutely on fire. They had City on the ropes and were completely unrelenting, pressing them in a series of waves that due to some incredibly terrible finishing should have put at least 2 past the sky blues by then.
City began to find their feet mid way through the first half and were beginning to press up the park and trying to look for the opening goal of the match. Covic and his line of defence was resolute and bustled and harassed the visitors to not put too much pressure on the defensive half of the hosts.
Perth had some guilt-edged chances with Garcia missing a sitter as well as Keogh in the open moments of the match. Keogh pounced on some brilliant work from Castro who I genuinely thought he headed the ball down, collapsed then like a caterpillar headed the ball with a thrusting motion to score! But No it was a saved header with the Irishman able to swiftly pounce on the Spaniards hard work to much of the delight of the shed end in the 55th minute.

Perth there placing killer through ball after another to Castro and his attacking partners in crime which was capped off with a tremendous show of strength, speed and accuracy when Sandor made it a two goal lead in the 67th minute.

Castro was just phenomenal during the game with his deft touches and vision would completely bamboozle the defensive line of Melbourne and really place Sorensen under the hammer throughout the game. Castro's brilliance was capped off with just a pure quality volley from his right hand side to put it past the big Danish keeper who was dumbfounded at just what happened. Castro has just after every game that he has been a quality signing for Perth and the league which has really given the men in purple a much needed multiple dimension for scoring. Let us hope he stays in Perth for more seasons to come.

As for the food I was starving and fell prey to the money trap that is nib Stadium. I had a beef and bacon burger with 2 pepsi drinks so I wouldn't have to climb all the way down from the Eastern (Jack Marks) Stand and queue for ages. The burger however despite being a joke at 10 dollars is actually an incredibly tasty burger that is just so incredibly fresh. I must tip my hat to the catering company who have prepared these burgers as it felt like it was made in my own home straight after going to the supermarket to buy the freshest ingredients. But is it worth the price-tag? I honestly say no because it shouldn't be 10 dollars. Sure NPLWAU sides have burgers that are to die for priced around the 7 to 8 dollar mark so what is 2 dollars you say? Well when you buy your soft drink which is FIVE dollars and then 10 dollars for a burger you should be paying about 3 for a drink and 8 for a burger you should be saving money and then able to buy another drink or towards another food purchase.

While I would like to thank nib for focusing their food and beverage staff to produce the freshest items for the fans, charging them too much for such great food will turn people off and resort to bringing in food or going to the McDonald's just down the road. While cheap and high in quantity that will always beat out a delicious fresh burger or piping hot chips.

Agent's Reports Around The Grounds

I have some agents out there doing a thankless task of watching their beloved football and also enjoying the food and drink. Obviously I cannot get to every ground as most are played at the same time so unless I was superman (not from that terrible movie) I would have a chance. So I shall post here the information that I receive.

I would like to thank all the people who take their time to do this for me. So let us start.
There was no food on offer down at Mandurah over the Easter Monday which was disappointing I am told. However there was the bar open for drinks which was not all doom and gloom but food to compliment your drink would have been appreciated. Besides non alcoholic beverages over the bar there was Nescafe coffee on offer which for the coffee connoisseurs would be a let down. But for me coffee is coffee (more of a tea man myself).
