Rockdale Shine Over Blacktown

Went to see some New South Wales National Premier Leagues in Rockdale on a warm but relatively cooler evening in Sydney to watch two proud Macedonian clubs compete over NPLNSW points in the always lovely Rockdale. The ground itself is close to the coast but it is not exactly a picturesque part of the coast as Brighton Le Sands is under the looming shadow of the airport and the nature of the operations. With also the construction of the M6 nearby this further adds to the rather unflattering and rather uninspiring coastal surrounds. But there are some nice and cute houses that are nearby the ground and near Kogarah. Houses that I certainly wish I would be able to own and live in, but that will never be the reality as the cost of living in Sydney is just so high. A shame as Sydney is a wonderful city and I always have a great time when I have been in Sydney.

Was a tough slog for Rockdale as Blacktown were not going to give the three points up and were determined to leave Rockdale with the chocolates. But it would ultimately be the hosts that would end up being winners of the difficult contest. It was end to end action with both sides engaged with an arm wrestle to try and draw first blood and open the account. However, it would be Rockdale that would do such action and sapped Blacktown's momentum giving Rockdale an upper hand.

Rockdale had opened the scoring quickly, only taking them three minutes to get off nd racing and from that point on in the match Blacktown were playing catch-up but were not going to be pushed over by the hosts as the visitors were dogged in their determination to keep Rockdale having to work hard for their goals if they were going to score more.

This would eventuate with 2 goals just before the stroke of half time and within a five minute span Rockdale had landed two devastating blows and essentially had crippled the Blacktown ship. However, the visitors were not going to go down without a fight and they would keep pushing and pressing for an opening to try and find some way to claw themselves back into the contest. Though this would be in vain and they would end up being fruitless and walking away with no goals on the board. Rockdale had finished the match as 3-0 winners in an overall entertaining tussle.

The food and drink is why we are here of course and I had to sample some Macedonian beer as well as a chevapi roll. Though in Macedonian it is a kevap so they were responding oddly when i was being somewhat Croatian about it with chevapi. Two beers I had sampled, the first was Zlatan DAB and the second was Skopsko. Skopsko, is very similar to Heineken and the imported version tastes nice so this was just as great. So Скопско, I just wanted to say Skopsko in cyrillic, was 9 dollars and Zlatan DAB was also 9 dollars. The roll was 9 dollars also but was a very healthy portion of chevapi and the bread roll was nice and fresh. I opted without any sauces, however, avjar would have gone down and absolute treat with them so that was a shame. I did ask the guy what sauces were available and avjar was not available. Well, he did not say this when I had asked, so who really knows? He probably assumed that I am a skip and that I have no clue, nor like avjar. However, it was all good and all delicious.

Rockdale was a pleasure to head down to and watch a good contest of football over. It is just a shame that getting anywhere around Sydney is just such a challenge. The food was good, the drinks were great, the football was entertaining and the company was just as fantastic. Always a pleasure and will always come back. See you again soon hopefully Sydney.
