Balcatta were in control of the match from start to finish and Bayswater never looked like scoring until the final 5 minutes with a few shots that went begging. Balcatta were composed and were passing the ball well and pushing up the flanks. Bayswater seemed erratic and rather disjointed when trying to go forward. Both keepers were in good form during the game especially towards the end when both sides had shots that seemed destined for goal kept out. Balcatta ended up causing an upset winning the match 2-0, looks like Balcatta have started to turn their season around after a rather flat and unassuming start.
Food has always sadly been a mixed bag at Grindleford, you either get an OK feed with a quality beer or rubbish feed with a decent beer. Balcatta provide Peroni which is an excellent drop and at 8 dollars was affordable. Hot-dogs were a bit expensive at 5 dollars but with two gourmet sausages, sauce and the bread was soft but not fresh. Continental rolls are much like the ones in lunch bars and at 7 dollars they are similarly priced but the quality is just as bad.
Cool drink is at 2.50 which is the going prince and there was chocolate and snakes available. The hot chips were an improvement and with your own amount of salt makes it even better. Chips were at 4 dollars and rather reasonable for NPLWAU grounds. Chips were very popular as they had ran out of patties for making burgers which was a shame.
Balcatta had a decent crowd which was good to see and it is a shame that they haven't seemed to convince the council, sponsors or fellow members to build on their ground and move away from the 'amateur park club-room' arrangement to dedicated seating, bar and other small stand set ups like the larger grounds in the competition.
